Half Sister x MidJourney
I've been "deep" exploring the AI tools that have recently leapt to the forefront of our collective conversation - MidJourney, Dall E, ChatGPT, Lensa ... you know the ones. My experimentation flame has been fanned by (many) conversations with my industry tribe; the filmmakers, designers, developers, strategists, creative leaders and artists that I'm lucky to call on. There are, as you can imagine, many perspectives to be respected.
These are exciting tools and they need us. I know there's fear that they'll usurp human creativity. I understand that fear and, as someone who has been using creative technology in storytelling for over two decades, have met versions of it before. Ubiquitous tools like Photoshop and Final Cut Pro were met with deep suspicion, too. Responsible engagement with and employment of these tools is going to require this community to be open eyed and involved. I'm in.
On the cusp of a new year and crackling with energy for what's to come, I used MidJourney to create a limited series of New Warriors in style of Jamie Wyeth. The twenty-five characters are inheriting an unknowable future and, despite the many obstacles they'll face, approach it with a sense of radical optimism.
Ever onward into 2023.
