Building Stories
Half Sister Studio teamed up with the Portland-based creative team +&> to bring beloved children’s books to life in this joyful exhibit at the National Building Museum. The ten-year installation invites visitors to experience the magic of storytelling in a fresh, fun way.
The playful design set the stage for our team to produce engaging media for an immersive theater, showcasing classic children’s stories by Ezra Jack Keats, Faith Ringgold, and Suzy Lee.
This exhibit not only celebrates storytelling and the built environment, it invites students and children of all ages, to interact with diverse narratives
in a playful and educational environment.
We collaborated closely with the +&> team, assembling an efficient media team and guiding partners from treatment and script development through final execution. Our team introduced tailored previsualization techniques for the theater’s unique design and cast voice-over talent to add depth and diversity to the narratives.
In addition to the immersive theater, we developed simple, knob-controlled interactives that allow visitors to explore houses from around the world and the adventures of children left to their own devices—looking at you, Pippi Longstocking.
